We have started building our own recursive DNS infrastructure for ΕΛΠΙΣ DNS.
Instead of relying entirely on third-party DNS providers such as Google Public DNS or Cloudflare DNS, we operate our own DNS Recursive resolvers powered by PowerDNS Recursor. This gives us greater control over DNS resolution, caching, performance, reliability, and future improvements.

By running our own recursive resolvers, ΕΛΠΙΣ DNS can maintain a more independent DNS architecture while reducing dependency on external resolvers. This allows us to optimize caching, monitor performance, and provide a more controlled DNS experience for our users.
This is another step toward building a more open, reliable, and self-managed Internet infrastructure.
Recursive Resolver Performance Comparison
Our recursive DNS infrastructure is now performing competitively with major public DNS providers.
The following benchmark compares response time, TTL handling, and answer consistency between popular public resolvers and Pururin’s own recursive DNS infrastructure.

The results show that our own recursive infrastructure achieves latency comparable to established public DNS providers while providing full control over DNS recursion, caching behavior, and future optimization.
Unlike relying exclusively on external resolvers, ΕΛΠΙΣ DNS operates its own recursive layer powered by PowerDNS Recursor, allowing us to improve reliability, visibility, and independence.
